Berlin has a quite good public transport network. Normally, using public transport is a convinient, fast and relatively cheap way to move around in Berlin. There are several independent networks of different public transport facilities like busses, underground-trains (U-Bahn), fast-trains (S-Bahn) and tram. All of these different methods can be used with the same ticket and can be combined freely. Public Transport is running 24 hours a day, during night hours (~1:00 am - ~4:00 am) on weekdays there is a nightbus/nighttram system. During weekends most of the main lines of underground- and fast-trains are operating during night hours.

Train Network (Fast- and Undergroundtrains)Each station has a stationcode, which you can find on the bottom left-hand side of the timetable at your bus or tram stop. With this stationcode you can request information about the next few connections in realtime. This means the times you get back will show the time of the next connections, depending on the actual position of the tram or bus and actual traffic situation, as well as other reasons for delay (like construction work, accidents,...). You can use this service online or via GSM mobile phones. For use with GSM-phones just send a SMS with the stationcode to 77377.
